Sinja private school teachers back to work

3 July, Khalanga- Twenty-two schools based in Sinja rural municipality in Jumla which were closed for an ‘indefinite’ period since Sunday opened today. The agitating side was agreed to lift the padlock after the assurances from bodies concerned to address private teachers’ demand for payment.

According to Private Teachers’ Struggle Committee treasurer Hari Bahadur Rokaya, the agitating private teachers became ready to pull out the protest after rural municipality chair Dewal Singh Rawal and Education Department (under the rural municipality) chief Nabin Sharma gave words to address their demand.

Sixty-three private teachers in Sinja have complained of non-payment of their salary in this academic session. As they said, though private teachers on June 26 had given an ultimatum of four days to the school management committees for payment, the call fell into deaf ear, compelling them to take a harsh move.
